Decorate walls in Ramadan

It’s that time of the year. The time to re-establish and strengthen our relationship with the Quran, with our faith. Ramadan, the month of fasting from dawn to dusk, is a blessed period during which Muslims make special efforts to engage in good deeds, be it offering more prayers, reading the Quran more frequently or giving charity. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was said to be more generous in Ramadan than in other months.

According to a Hadith reported in Al-Bukhari, “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was the most generous of people (in doing good), and he was most generous of all in Ramadan when Jibreel met with him; he used to meet him every night in Ramadan and teach him the Quran. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was more generous in doing good than a blowing wind.”

The devil (satan) is said to be chained during this month. Therefore, any sin that a believer commits is more grievous on account of his/her own hand involved in it, instead of that of the satan. Therefore, Muslims are even more conscious of not erring, not doing any wrong in this month. Ramadan is also the month of the Laylatul-Qadr, the Night of Decree which is mentioned in the Quran as being “better than a 1,000 months”. Thus, several Muslims spend the entire Night of Decree in worship.

The night is said to fall most probably in the last 10 days of Ramadan, with the odd nights, especially the 27th, being the most likely candidates.
