Text: Al-Lateef Al-Khabeer

Translation:

Al- Lateef and Al-Khabeer are two of the 99 Beautiful Names of Allah

Al-Lateef: The Subtle, The Gentle, The One Who Helps us in a way that we may not be able to comprehend, The One who is always present with us, providing us Protection and Mercy in a way we can’t see or realise it at the moment.

Al-Khabeer: The One Who Knows it all – the hidden and the open, the secret and the obvious – nothing escapes Him. He is aware of our innermost desires and unspoken prayers.

The two Names are often paired as they are related to each other. Allah’s constant help is subtle (Al-Lateef) as He is always present with us and He is Aware of all what we do, feel, think and all that we do not know. (Al Khabeer)

The two Names have been paired in the following verses:

‘Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?’ (Surah Al Mulk 67:14)

‘Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision; and He is the Subtle, the Acquainted.(Surat Al-‘An`am 6:103)

'Do you not see that Allah has sent down rain from the sky and the earth becomes green? Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted.' (Surat Al-Haj 22:63)

"[And Luqman said], 'O my son, indeed if wrong should be the weight of a mustard seed and should be within a rock or [anywhere] in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted.' (Surah Luqman 31:16)
